What Are Silver Conductive Inks?

Conductive silver printing ink, is a combination of polymer coated silver particles and silver-based compounds in organic or aqueous mediums.

Nano Cintech is now able to produce silver conductive inks that have 10x less amounts of silver that our competitors. Our nano conductive inks uphold the same technical and electrical properties at a lower price giving our formulated inks a significant advantage. In addition, selecting water as environmentally friendly solvent allows us to have low curing temperatures and lower production times.

It is a low-cost conductive ink that can be printed on a variety of substrates like polyester, glass, and indium tin oxide (ITO) which can be cured at low temperatures, useful for low temperature resistant substrates.

Conductive Ink Applications

RFID Chips and Printed Chips

Printed circuits are often a time- and cost-saving alternative to traditional production methods for applications such as sensors, diagnostic devices, antennae, flexible displays, transistors, shields, resistors, and dielectrics. By using a variety of materials, inks and processes, Topflight can develop the right solution for your custom application.

As technology continues to advance, our engineers are able to use smaller spaces without sacrificing conductivity. High performance is delivered while cutting the circuit size and cost. These printed electronics layers use less design real estate; can be wrapped around objects without cracking; are more environmentally friendly than etching; can be produced on paper or film; and several of our processes can enable seamless scale up from prototype to production.

Printed Bendable/Flexible Electronics

The fact that conductive inks can be printed on a substrate makes then the perfect candidate for printed electronics and flexible circuits. These conductive inks are now being used to create a large array of flexible electronics such as bendable keyboards, touch switches, heating elements, and sensors.

At Nano Cintech we provide a large array of silver conductive inks which are specifically formulated for different substrates, applications, and cure requirements.

Automobile Electronics

The number of applications for silver conductive inks and nanostructures for the automobile market is endless. They are already being used for durable flexible touchscreens but the technology advancement does not stop there.

Conductive inks are methodically being used to improve comfort, design, and aesthetics. For example, conductive inks are used in seat heaters where the entire large-area heater is printed. Conductive inks are also being used as high-power LEDs for energy saving and aesthetically differentiated lighting.

In-Mold Electronics (IME), is another facet where they are being implemented. In this process mechanical switches are replaced with structurally integrated printed electronics.

Safety is another area where conductive inks come into play. Occupancy sensors are screen-printed products that measures the presence and weight of occupants to properly control the response of airbag deployment system.

Printed Sensors For Wearable Electronics

Silver conductive inks are now being used in mainstream applications every day, and have now found in a new home in printed wearable electronics. Sensors are being developed and applied to measure athletic performance, diagnose/monitor health, and provide consumers with smart clothing technology.

These conductive inks are being applied to new high-tech materials resulting in thin, form-fitting circuits that can be seamlessly blended with standard fabrics. This allows manufacturers to come up with clothing products that provide an unprecedented level of comfort and mobility in wearable electronics design.

The quality of our inks provides stable performance for wearable electronics despite stretching and washing. Also, our conductive inks use 10 times less silver while maintaining the same electrical properties allowing the manufacture of wearable electronics without significant investment.

Printed Flexible Circuit Boards

Current methods of manufacturing printed circuit boards use complex and expensive techniques which elevates the overall cost of the product. Solvent based silver conductive inks are capable of substituting the current printed circuit board technology and reducing manufacturing cost.

These printed circuit boards are now being created using conductive ink printing which allows the board to be created in an additive manner, with the dielectrics created before the layer of conductive ink is added on. This new method makes creating the final product cheaper and is very different from the conventional method of producing conductive boards, where copper layers are etched away in a subtractive process.

The nature of conductive inks also allows for new flexible circuit boards to be created and used for novel applications.
